Elizabeth Raider, National NA’AMAT USA President, has announced that a select group of young and talented members of NA’AMAT USA from around the United States have returned from a 10-day mission to Israel where they inspected and learned about the inner workings of its educational and diverse facilities for the women, youth and children in Israel.

Led by Jan Gurvich, National Fundraising Vice-President and organized by Ivy Liebross, National Leadership Vice-President, the group visited day care centers, multipurpose daycare centers, technological and agricultural high schools, a women’s shelter, and the Women’s Rights Center, and also met with high-ranking personalities involved in the day-to-day operation of NA’AMAT facilities in Israel.

Among the highlights were the daycare center in Jaffa, one of the only bilingual kindergartens in the country where Arab and Jewish children live and play in peace, the daycare center in Sderot, where the bomb shelter is a constant necessity, and the Glickman center for treatment and prevention of domestic violence.

The participants sent photos, blogs and a descriptive diary to the National NA’AMAT USA Facebook page, where members from around the country could follow the group on their daily activities. Shirli Shavit, Director of the NA’AMAT International Dept., NA’AMAT Israel, Masha Lubelsky, member of WZO, and Galia Wolloch, President, NA’AMAT Israel, played an important part in helping the participants understand how the programs work and their impact on Israeli society.

NA’AMAT USA works to support its sister organization in Israel, which provides training, educational and social services for women, youth, children and families, and raises the status of women in Israel. In Israel, NA’AMAT covers the entire map with its broad network of services that enhance the quality of life for women, teenagers and children.
