Tel Aviv, Israel
The NA’AMAT Center for the Family is Israel’s most comprehensive model for protecting, healing, and empowering families affected by domestic violence.
This flagship facility in Tel Aviv has grown into a full Family Center, combining emergency shelter, trauma counseling, therapy, legal aid, and prevention programs under one roof. It serves women, children, and men — addressing the roots of violence and guiding families toward safety and recovery.
At the center’s shelter, up to 12 women and their children at a time find refuge and stability. Each family receives trauma-informed care, therapy, early childhood education, and parenting support designed to restore confidence and rebuild healthy family life.
The center provides counseling and legal aid for women, men, and couples; rehabilitation programs for fathers and partners; and professional training for police, social workers, and educators who respond to family violence.
The center is also home to the Abba Program, which helps fathers learn positive parenting and communication skills, and The Day After, a reintegration program that supports women as they rebuild independent lives after leaving the shelter.

Healing, Resilience, and Hope at Israel’s Southern Border
Just one mile from Gaza, the NA’AMAT Women’s Health & Empowerment Center in Sderot stands as both a sanctuary and a symbol of endurance. Built through the support of NA’AMAT USA, the center was created to provide women and families with access to healthcare, counseling, and empowerment programs in one of Israel’s most vulnerable cities.
On October 7, Sderot was among the first communities attacked. The city became a battle zone, and the center itself sustained significant damage. For weeks, its staff and participants faced displacement, fear, and loss. But even in crisis, NA’AMAT’s mission held firm — to protect and empower women, children, and families.
Today, after repairs and recovery efforts, the Sderot Center is open once again. Its doors welcome women seeking strength, connection, and healing in the face of ongoing trauma.

Changing Systems. Saving Lives.
NA’AMAT’s fight against domestic violence extends beyond its shelters and counseling rooms — it reaches Israel’s courtrooms, government offices, and workplaces.
After a 12-year advocacy campaign, NA’AMAT helped secure the 2023 electronic monitoring law, allowing courts to require high-risk abusers under restraining orders to wear tracking devices. The law protects women and children in immediate danger — a hard-won victory made possible through years of persistence.
But legislation alone isn’t enough. NA’AMAT’s My Sister’s Keeper initiative trains call-center employees, utility operators, and front-line workers to recognize coded cries for help — like the now-famous “pizza order” call that saved a woman’s life.

Building Safer Families, One Father at a Time
The Abba Program — “Abba” means father in Hebrew — is one of NA’AMAT’s most innovative approaches to breaking the cycle of domestic violence in Israel.
Developed at the NA’AMAT Center for the Family in Tel Aviv, the program works with fathers to strengthen relationships, manage stress, and build healthy, supportive homes. It is grounded in one powerful idea: to protect women and children, we must also equip men with the skills and empathy to prevent abuse before it begins.
Through individual counseling, group workshops, and father–child activities, participants learn how to communicate, handle conflict, and parent with compassion. The program also hosts spousal sessions and community education events that promote equality and respect within families.
Since its launch, the Abba Program has reached hundreds of fathers across Israel — including soldiers returning from reserve duty, men coping with trauma, and those seeking to rebuild family trust. Demand for its services has more than doubled in recent years as more communities recognize the value of prevention.
