Spotlight: Orly Bitty

Orly Bitty is a board member of NA’AMAT Israel and oversees the organization’s multicultural and young generation programs.
A lawyer specializing in labor law and collective agreements, she is a lifelong political activist and a long-time member of Israel’s Labor Party. She describes herself as “a lawyer by profession, but a politician by addiction.” Currently, she leads a program to teach leadership skills to young women.

Spotlight: Nadera Tannous

Nadera Tannous is the director of the NA’AMAT Technological School, a high school in Nazareth that helps Israeli Arab girls, who have previously struggled in school, become empowered and contributing members of society. The school prepares girls for college and also provides vocational training in a variety of careers.

Spotlight: Hagit Pe’er

Hagit Pe’er is the chairperson of NA’AMAT in the Negev Region. She oversees 14 day care centers, two targeting at-risk youth, as well as a women’s rights center that provides legal counseling and other services to more than 1,300 women and families each year.

Foreign dignitaries mark Int’l Women’s Day in Israel with tour of NA’AMAT shelters

The day’s activities focused on strengthening the status of women and on cooperation between Jewish and Arab women.

The global community marked International Women’s Day on Saturday. On Thursday, the Government Press Office, the Ambassadors Club of Israel, led by Ambassador Yitzhak Eldan and Na’amat – Movement of Working Women & Volunteers joined in the celebrations with a tour for foreign diplomats and journalists.

“There is a glass ceiling for women today and there are very few who have been able to break it and reach top positions, these women need to support each other whether they are from Israel or abroad,” Galia Wolloch, president of NA’AMAT Israel, told The Jerusalem Post during the tour.
