Galia Wolloch is overwhelmed by the hard work and dedication of the organization’s employees in an appearance on the popular reality series.
Israeli television viewers got to meet some of the everyday superstars who keep NA’AMAT’s school and day care programs running through a recent episode of the reality show Undercover Boss featuring NA’AMAT president Galia Wolloch.
Appearing on the Reshet network, the Israeli version of Undercover Boss is very much like its American counterpart. A high ranking executive masquerades as a low level employee to find out how the work really gets done at her company.
In an episode from the current season, Galia Wolloch is the featured “boss.” Disguised in glasses and a polka-dot headband, she goes undercover at a NA’AMAT high school and three day care centers, where she washes dishes, sweeps floors, changes diapers and has fascinating encounters with organization staff.
At the high school in Lod, Galia meets Pnina, a cleaning woman, whose husband, a former gardener at the school, died of cancer in 2012. She tells Galia of her dream of visiting concentration camp memorials in Poland. At day care centers in Kiryat Motskin, Ofakim and Nes-Tsyona, Galia encounters Adee, a cook who prepares meals for the center’s 80 children; Ilana, a teacher and breast cancer survivor; and Yehudit, teacher who lost a son to a terrorist attack.

Each has a poignant story to tell. Adee had problems in conceiving a child, an experience that Galia shared. Still recovering from cancer surgery, Ilana suggests that teachers ought to be better paid. Yehudit has difficulty in working with children at her day care center because they remind her of her son. Galia is clearly moved. “I never imagined I would meet such dedicated employees,” she says.

At the end of the show, Galia reveals her true identity and provides each woman with a hand-picked reward. A memorial to Pnina’s husband is placed at the school and she is invited to join Galia on a trip to Poland. A dishwasher is installed at the day care center where Adee works and she receives a scholarship to culinary school. Ilana is promoted to manager of the women’s health center. Yehudit is sent on an all-expenses paid vacation to London.
“Each of these women is so different, and so wonderful,” Galia says. “It warms my heart. They are the face of NA’AMAT.”
