Operation Protective Edge

Dear Friends,

The challenges of daily life in Israel during the present situation of waiting for the next siren, running for a safe place when rockets begin to fall and trying to keep your family safe, have become an all-too-familiar part of the daily routine for many Israelis..

The following letter and photos are from an e-mail I received today from Shirli Shavit, Director, NA’AMAT International Department in Israel.

“We are doing our utmost in NA’AMAT to support our caregivers in our Day Care Centers….we distributed chocolates to all of them as a token of our love and appreciation…..photos show NA’AMAT Israel President Galia Wolloch helping to prepare the boxes.”

“Parents of the children in our Day Care Centers collected clothing, underwear and sweets, and Galia, together with some members of our board, drove south to the army base in Tze’elim to donate these items for our soldiers fighting in Gaza.”

“Many of us have our children, relatives or friends involved in the fighting in Gaza. It is very tense and very difficult. We all pray our soldiers will come home safely. We are all doing our utmost to be strong and help in whatever we can.”

“We want to convey to you our utmost appreciation for your warm words and support. Thanks to your help we are purchasing needed equipment for our centers.”

“There is still much to do, and we are committed to do all it takes to create a safe, loving place for our children.”

As members of NA’AMAT USA, we applaud the efforts of our sister organization, NA’AMAT Israel, in their unflagging efforts to maintain as normal an atmosphere as possible in our extensive network of Day Care Centers despite the dangerous physical situation.

THEY HAD LESS THAN ONE MINUTE TO FIND SAFETY.

YOU CAN HELP IN LESS THAN FIVE.

Staff and children huddle together in a safe room at a NA’AMAT daycare center. The daily air-raid sirens and ever-present threat of rocket attacks feed anxiety and insecurity that is profoundly disturbing for the children. Can you spare five minutes to help?
