Los Angeles, CA 6/12/19 – November is shaping up to be a landmark month for NA’AMAT USA when members from across the United States will meet in Israel on November 4th – 11th for the 2019 National Convention. This gathering will bring together NA’AMAT’s many dynamic American and Israeli leaders for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work together on the future of the organization in Israel, where NA’AMAT’s successful and diverse facilities serving women and children are located.
In addition to touring many of Israel’s most iconic sites — including Rabin Square, Yad Vashem, The Knesset, Ben Yehuda Street and, of course, the Old City and the Kotel in Jerusalem– the itinerary will feature visits to NA’AMAT’s Glickman Center for battered women and their children in Tel Aviv as well as The HaShalom Day Care Center in Yaffo. “We all hear about our centers in Israel,” said Chellie Goldwater Wilensky, NA’AMAT USA National President, “and we often see the evocative images and moving videos that are sent back to our chapters in the US. But,” she further explained, “there is nothing that compares to seeing these places in person – walking through them with the staff and clients – to really bring home how vital they are to the women, children and families who benefit from the NA’AMAT services.”
For those who wish to lengthen their Israel adventure, there is an option for an extra 3-day Galilee Extension. The itinerary for the extension will include visits to Haifa, Akko, Tsefat, Caesarea and many other memorable locations in the north of Israel.
To make this trip accessible for all, the package for NA’AMAT members includes a $150 subsidy toward the hotels and a generous $500 subsidy on the airfare. Non-members who join NA’AMAT USA any time before the trip will also receive the subsidies.
Selma Roffman, the 2019 Convention Chair summed it up perfectly. “We hope that a trip like this will be appealing to all our members as well as their families and friends. Our goal is to help make it a reality for all who want to attend. With the mix of NA’AMAT events – including the installation of the new National Board – the comprehensive itinerary and the visits to NA’AMAT facilities, this truly will be a trip of a lifetime.”
