Fellowship Winner Announced

NA’AMAT USA is pleased to announce that Ms. Cara Rock-Singer of Philadelphia, PA is the recipient of the Second NA’AMAT USA Research Fellowship in Honor of Elizabeth J. Raider. In addition, Dr. Tanya Zion-Waldoks of Beer-Sheva, Israel has been awarded an Honorable Mention.

Changing Lives

Ilana Kwartin is an attorney and heads a legal practice near Ashkelon, Israel specializing in labor law, tort law and women’s rights. She was born in the former Soviet Union and made Aliyah with her family in 1987.

Spotlight Interview: Yael Levin

Yael Levin directs the shelter for victims of domestic violence at the NA’AMAT Glickman Center in Tel Aviv. A trained social worker, Levin has been working with battered women, their children and their spouses for more than two decades.

Making Educational Dreams Come True

More than 200 young Israeli women have a clearer path toward attaining their educational goals thanks to the generosity of members of NA’AMAT USA. Eleven women pursuing PhDs in science and women’s studies are recipients of 2017 NA’AMAT Research Grants. An additional 200 women studying for undergraduate and graduate degrees received NA’AMAT Educational Scholarships.

NA’AMAT USA Walks to Support Women, Children and Families in Israel

It was a beautiful spring morning as the Western Area of NA’AMAT USA hosted its first 5K Walk June 4th at Lake Balboa Park in Encino. Dozens of people, ranging in age from babies in strollers on up, walked three times around scenic Lake Balboa to complete the 3.1-mile course.

Broward and Palm Beach councils of NA’AMAT USA held their annual Donor Luncheons May 3rd and 4th, respectively, to celebrate their members’ outstanding fundraising efforts in behalf of women, children and families in Israel. Donors were recognized for taking part in a wide range of activities that have provided critical funding for NA’AMAT.

“Women Celebrating Women”

On April 30th, NA’AMAT USA’s San Fernando Valley Council held its Annual Spring Luncheon, one of its most highly anticipated events of the year. More than 200 members, family and friends convened at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Westlake Village for a lively afternoon of food, fundraising and fun under the theme “Women Celebrating Women.”

Cleveland Council Hosts Tikkun Olam Award

NA’AMAT USA’s Cleveland Council drew an overflow crowd for its annual Tikkun Olam Award Presentation, held April 25th at the Beechmont Country Club in Orange, Ohio. The event, honoring Rabbi Rosette Barron Haim of The Temple-Tifereth Israel, also set a record for fundraising with the evening’s donations earmarked for NA’AMAT’s scholarship and grant programs in Israel.
