Shirli Shavit is the Director of the International Department of NA’AMAT, a position she has held for 17 years. As such, she serves as the lynchpin connecting NA’AMAT Israel with its sister organizations around the world.
Spotlight: Nadera Tannous
Nadera Tannous is the director of the NA’AMAT Technological School, a high school in Nazareth that helps Israeli Arab girls, who have previously struggled in school, become empowered and contributing members of society. The school prepares girls for college and also provides vocational training in a variety of careers.
Spotlight: Hagit Pe’er
Hagit Pe’er is the chairperson of NA’AMAT in the Negev Region. She oversees 14 day care centers, two targeting at-risk youth, as well as a women’s rights center that provides legal counseling and other services to more than 1,300 women and families each year.
An Interview with NA’AMAT Israel Attorney Gali Etzion
Gali is an attorney living in Israel who heads NA’AMAT’s Legislative Department. After earning her law degree from Tel Aviv University, Gali lived and worked in the United States for several years before returning to Israel in 2001 to assume her current role. She spoke with NA’AMAT USA about her work for the organization, the status of women in Israel and her hopes for the future.
