Once rundown and neglected, the ancient port city has been getting a makeover. How does this affect the mixed population of Jews and Arabs?
The Cologne Peace Daycare Center in Jaffa is unique among NA’AMAT facilities in Israel. It was the first daycare center to offer bilingual (Hebrew and Arabic) education and the first to serve a mixed population of students. Of the 67 children currently enrolled in the center approximately half are Jewish, one-quarter are Arabic-Muslim and one-quarter are Arabic-Christian.
Human sex trafficking is the most common form of modern-day slavery. Scores of women and children, both girls and boys, are trafficked each year within or across national and international borders as part of a $32 Billion annual industry. As the third largest and fastest-growing organized criminal enterprise in the world, sex trafficking is big business. An estimated 800,000 women and children are trafficked across international borders and additional individuals are trafficked within countries.
WHEREAS trafficking occurs in every country, in all fifty states, and in all cities and towns, both large and small;
NA’AMAT was founded 88 years ago as Pioneer Women. Today, we’re still pioneers, providing day care for over 17,000 children in Israel. Founded in 1925, NA’AMAT day care centers are the largest network of day care centers in the country. We have become a world leader in early childhood education. In fact, the Head Start program of the U.S. was modeled after the NA’AMAT centers in Israel. BE A PIONEER of the future and JOIN US in our cause by setting up a DONATION using our NEW Recurring Payment form to help us continue to be at the forefront.
