Join us to learn about Fighting Hunger in Israel.

Zoom Event on February 12th at 7PM EST (4PM Pacific)

Women and children, the core focus of our mission, are the most vulnerable to food insecurity, often sacrificing health and opportunity.
Here’s why addressing this issue is urgent:

  • Women Bear the Burden: In food-insecure households, women frequently skip meals to ensure their children eat.
Single mothers face even greater challenges, navigating wage gaps, high childcare costs, and inflexible jobs.
  • Children Suffer Developmentally: Hunger impairs children’s physical growth, cognitive development, and academic performance.
Many rely on school meal programs, which don’t cover weekends or breaks.
  • Food Insecurity in Israel: Nearly 1 in 3 Israeli children lives in poverty.
Single-parent households, most led by women, are twice as likely to experience food insecurity.

  • How advocating for women and children (investing in women’s employment programs, subsidized childcare) can significantly reduce food insecurity rates in female-headed households.
  • How Leket Israel provides critical support through food rescue programs and direct assistance to food-insecure families.
