A big crowd of Eilat members and guests arrived at Rosie’s Restaurant to have an early Chanukah celebration. Traditional latkes were a treat and worked perfectly with our BBQ dinners. Sufganiot, halvah and other sweets topped off the meal. Party arranger, Linda Kavalsky and sidekick Susan Miller did an excellent job in keeping us entertained.
We were stumped with a challenging Chanukah word game and sang Chanukah songs led by the Eilat “choir.”
Those who had attended the National NA’AMAT USA conference in Israel gave short recaps of experiences. The conference was especially great with the opportunity to actually observe the quality services in the nursery schools, the Glickman Home for abused women/children, and the agricultural high school at Kanot. We gazed at Gaza from an overlook while at S’derot which days later was under fire from hundreds of bombs. This was hard to believe after experiencing the S’derot Women’s Center on a peaceful, normal day. It brought home how important it is for NA’AMAT to continue supporting women and children. Needs are great.
